As an enterprise focusing on the production, sales and research and development of powder coating products, we not only have 34 semi-automatic production lines and advanced production equipment such as German ZEPPELIN bonding machines, with an annual output of up to 30,000 tons, but also have built a complete system in quality control, using a series of high-end testing methods and equipment to strictly monitor key indicators such as particle size distribution, color, gloss, adhesion, etc. The following will elaborate on the testing methods and equipment we use in the production process of instrumentation powder coatings.
Particle size distribution detection: Mastersizer 3000E laser particle size analyzer
Particle size distribution is one of the key factors affecting the spraying effect, coverage uniformity and final coating performance of powder coatings. Huacai uses the Mastersizer 3000E laser particle size analyzer produced by Malvern Instruments in the UK. Based on the advanced laser scattering principle, the device can accurately measure the particle size distribution range of powder coatings, and can effectively analyze particles from micrometers to millimeters. Through this device, we can monitor the size distribution of coating particles in real time to ensure that the product has ideal dispersion and fluidity, which is crucial to improving the smoothness of the coating and reducing gun clogging during spraying.
Color is an important evaluation indicator of the appearance quality of powder coatings, which directly affects the beauty and market acceptance of the product. Huacai is equipped with the Datacolor 400 computer color matching system, which integrates a high-precision spectrometer and advanced color management software. It can quickly and accurately measure the color parameters of powder coatings, including Lab* values, RGB values, etc., and can accurately match colors according to customer needs to ensure the consistency of color of each batch of products. In addition, the system also supports color trend analysis and historical data tracing, providing strong technical support for product innovation and quality control.
Gloss is an indicator of the ability of the powder coating surface to reflect light, which directly affects the visual effect of the product. Huacai uses internationally recognized professional gloss meters, such as BYK-Gardner gloss meters, to accurately measure the gloss of powder coatings. The instrument can accurately determine the gloss level of the coating by measuring the reflectivity of the coating to light at a certain angle. Whether it is high gloss, semi-gloss or matte effect, it can be accurately evaluated to ensure that the product gloss meets the design requirements.
Adhesion is a direct reflection of the bonding strength between powder coatings and substrates. For products such as instruments and meters that have extremely high requirements for durability and reliability, adhesion testing is particularly important. Huacai uses two methods for adhesion testing: the scratch method and the pull-out method. The scratch method uses a special scratch instrument to apply gradually increasing pressure on the coating surface to observe and record the minimum force for the coating to be damaged; the pull-out method uses a tensile tester to directly measure the force required for the coating to separate from the substrate. The combination of these two methods can comprehensively evaluate the adhesion performance of the coating and ensure that the product has good durability and reliability in practical applications.
In addition to the above core testing methods, Huacai also uses a series of auxiliary testing methods to ensure comprehensive control of product quality. For example, we use SHIMADZU XRF fluorescence spectrometer for elemental analysis to quickly and accurately detect the heavy metal content and other key chemical components in the coating to ensure that the product meets environmental protection and safety standards; we use SEM (scanning electron microscope) to observe the microscopic morphology of coating particles to further understand the dispersion state and surface characteristics of the coating; and we use universal material testing machine to test mechanical properties, including impact resistance, hardness, toughness, etc., to ensure that the coating has excellent physical properties.
